SUMMARY:

This study aims to evaluate the influence of three extenders and cooling time on the semen quality of dogs subjected to freezing. Ejaculates from 5 dogs will be used, which will be evaluated (motility, vigor and pathologies), later will be divided into 3 fractions and diluted with 3 different extenders. After dilution, the semen will be submitted to a cooling curve and kept at 5º C for different times: 1 hour (T1), 24 hours (T2), 48 hours (T3) and 72 hours (T4). After these times, the semen will be evaluated (motility, vigor and pathologies) and then subjected to a freezing curve, where the straws will be kept in nitrogen vapor, 5 cm above nitrogen for 20 min, then dipped in liquid nitrogen (- 196º C) and stored in appropriate cylinders. 60 doses will be frozen per animal, of these 20 doses of each extender, with 5 doses at each cooling time, totaling 300 doses. After thawing the doses will be evaluated through computerized analysis (CASA). The data will be evaluated through specialized software (SAS Ondemand) and submitted to the ANOVA statistical test, and the means will be compared by Tukey Test with 5% significance (P<0.05).
