SUMMARY:

In order to reduce the possible impacts of heat stress on dairy cattle production, genetic
programs have been used to select heat resistant animals. Thus, the objectives of the
present study were to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) located in the
promoter region and 5'UTR of the Hsp70 gene and to evaluate the associations between
Hsp70 SNPs and reproductive efficiency of dairy cows. Blood samples were collected
from 71 dairy cows belonging to a commercial dairy farm located in the northeast
region of Pará. 4 mL of blood were collected from the jugular vein in a tube with
EDTA. DNA was extracted from the samples and submitted to the identification of
polymorphisms of the HSP70 gene. In the results obtained, 9 SNPs were identified, 6 in
the promoter region and 3 in the 5'UTR region. Regarding production data, no statistical
difference was found for PLD and PUL. As for reproductive parameters at (TC1º
FREQ%) a significant difference was observed in the different genotypes AA, CA in
relation to CC of SNP5 (-145 C>A), and in genotypes CC, CT in relation to CC of
SNP8 (+79 C →T). in DPP there was a statistical difference between the CT genotype
in relation to TT of SNP2 (-345 T>C) and in the CA genotype in relation to CC of SNP3
(-309 C>A). and in SNP9 (+101 C>T) CC genotype in relation to TT. For the other
reproductive variables, TPAC FREQ% and INP, no significant difference was observed
in the genotype of the different SNPS found in this work. The promoter region and
5'UTR of the HSP70 gene presents genetic polymorphisms that may be involved in the
reproductive efficiency of dairy cows, and can be considered a candidate gene in
