SUMMARY:

Potassium participates directly or indirectly in numerous biochemical processes involved with metabolism, notably in the process of photosynthesis. The objective is to evaluate productive and structural characteristics of forage grasses as a function of potassium fertilization. The experiment will be conducted in a greenhouse located at Fazenda Escola de Igarapé-Áçu (FEIGA), which belongs to the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (UFRA), during a period from November 2020 to February 2021. The experiment has a completely randomized design with a 2x6 factorial arrangement with ten replications, consisting of two species of forage grasses Panicum maximum cultivar Zuri and Braquiária Mavuno and five elevations of potassium content and the control (0; 45; 90; 135; 180 and 225 mg.dm3 in the soil). The evaluations will be, measuring the aerial part of the plants (cm), counting the number of tillers per pot, measuring the relative content of total chlorophyll using the SPAD 502 Minolta device. The morphogenic and structural characteristics of the canopies will be evaluated through the random choice of five representative tillers in each plot, about 20 cm apart and identified with enumerated plastic clamps. Know which dose of potassium among the species of forage plants will perform well in the establishment and growth, taking into account the combination of components to carry out an appropriate management strategy for implanting the crop in a given area.
