PHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSES OF Elaeis guineensis Jacq TO LIME DOSES IN THE AREA OF OCCURRENCE OF FATAL YELLOWING

Fatal yellowing, liming and oil palm

The expansion of oil palm cultivation in already deforested areas of the Amazon is a fact. However, one of the main obstacles to the expansion of oil palm in the State of Pará is due to Fatal Yellowing (AF), which is an unknown problem. The symptomatology starts with the yellowing of the arrow leaf and with evolution its leaves dry. This project will be carried out based on the field conditions present at Marborges S.A., Moju - PA. Two clones (BRS 2501 and 2801) of sensitive oil palm (Elaeis guineenses) will be used. A comparative analysis will be carried out between the clones, in the area of AF incidence, in the six treatments C0 (control without harrow), C1 (control with harrow), 2T, 4T, 6T and 8T (tons of dolomitic limestone) and six repetitions. The evaluations will be carried out on palm trees at the beginning of production, during the period that shows the lowest intensity of rainfall over a year. For this purpose, analyzes of morphophysiological parameters (internal morphology, gas exchange, water status, determination of metabolites, enzymatic and non-enzymatic activities of carbon metabolism, antioxidant, in addition, plant height (AP), number of leaves (NF ), collecting diameter (DC), monitoring physical and biogeochemical conditions in soils related to the AF problem. It is expected to obtain physiological oil palm indicators that can define which clone and ideal treatment, which presents a better development in areas with incidence of PA.
