INFECTIOUS AND PARASITARY DISEASES IN DOGS AND CATS OF THE ISLAND OF ALGODOAL
- MAIANDEUA IN NORTHEAST OF PARÁ
One Health, Zoonoses, Hemoparasitosis, Conservation Medicine, Environmental Protection Area
The concept of One Health has recently been considered as a way to mitigate risks to society. Despite being an important concept, there are still no parameters for evaluating the benefits or the value of these actions in which they are applied. We can consider that it should be one of the pillars for balance and preservation, especially in coastal regions, since some are Environmental Protection Areas and have a vital ecosystem for several species. Anthropogenic actions in these environments can cause disorders that are often irreversible. Associated with this, the overpopulation of dogs and cats in these locations can have several consequences for the local population, tourists and native species in the region. Population control associated with knowledge about responsible ownership and animal welfare is very important for a good coexistence between these populations. The aim of the study was to carry out an epizootiological survey of infectious and parasitic diseases in dogs and cats on Ilha de Algodoal/Maiandeua, located in the Northeast of Pará. Research data such as questionnaires, serological and molecular diagnosis for the detection of diseases in animals on this island, will be statistically analyzed in Biostat 5.0.
