SUMMARY:

This study was conducted to evaluate the productive responses and milk composition of cows in early lactation fed on pasture and supplemented with different sources of long-chain fatty acid salts. Fifteen Holstein X Zebu crossbred cows (7/8), body weight of 500 ± 68 kg (mean ± SD), body condition score of 3.0 ± 0.4 (mean ± SD) and mean production at the beginning of the experiment of 25L/day in early lactation were used in a 5x5 triple Latin square design with 21 days per experimental period and five treatments: (1) control (CON); (2) 400g of Soybean Oil Calcium Salts (SCS); (3) 400g Calcium Salts of Palm Oil (CSP); (4) 400g of Blend 1 – Calcium salts 70% Soybean oil and 30% Palm oil (BL1); 400g of Blend 2 - Calcium salts 30% Soybean oil and 70% Palm oil (BL2). Cows were maintained on pasture and supplemented with concentrate diet, in a ratio of 50:50 forage concentrate. The concentrated diet consisted of corn, soybean meal and mineral mixture. Each period had 14 days of adaptation of 7 days of collection. Analyzes of pasture chemical composition, simulated grazing, supplied diet and feces were performed. Milk production was measured, and composition analysis of milk samples was performed. Blood samples were also collected, and physiological parameters of dairy cows were measured. Pasture cows supplemented with calcium salts of soy fatty acid showed lower milk production, lower total fat and solids content, and higher milk lactose content (p<0.05) compared to the other protected fats. Other results will be analyzed.
