Zootechnical evaluation of Callithrix jacchus and Callithrix penicillata couples and their hybrids resulting from interspecific matings
Management, Hybrid, Heterosis, Captivity, Callithrix
Aiming to evaluate the influence of heterosis in the management in captivity of colonies of non-human primates of the family Callitrichidae in a vivarium system, and to evaluate the zootechnical potential of a hybrid colony between the species C. jacchus and C. penicillata, the performance data will be analyzed of the pure species couples, as well as of the interspecific matings, with the males of C. jacchus and females of C. penicillata and those with the male of C. penicillata and females of C. jacchus. Assessing the growth and development of the offspring, and other performance of the reproductive and zootechnical parameters of the colonies, establishing the potential quality of these colonies for the production of healthy individuals for the research that requires them.
