USE OF VIDEODERMATOSCOPY AS A DIAGNOSTIC METHOD IN CANINE ATOPIC DERMATITIS
Dermatopathy, Dermatoscopy, Videodermatoscopy
Dermatopathies are one of the main complaints in the clinic of small animals and the clinical examination, in most cases, is not enough to establish a diagnosis. Several studies have shown that dermoscopy can be very helpful in assisting the diagnosis of various general dermatological disorders, including inflammatory dermatoses. Atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory, chronic and itchy skin disease, very common in dogs, with diagnosis based on the patient's history and clinical manifestations, without a specific dermatological exam. With the need for increasingly specific, evolved and less invasive examinations, videodermatoscopy, a dermoscopic examination performed with the use of a video camera that captures the images and transfers them to the computer aims to: Evaluate the use of this test as an effective diagnostic method for canine atopic dermatitis, diagnose dogs with atopic dermatitis, establish a dermatoscopic lesion pattern of atopic dermatitis in dog´s axillary area, associate the dermatoscopic signs with atopic dermatitis and develop a form for anamnesis and videodermatoscopic diagnosis. This study will be conducted in the city of Belém - Pará, in the Dermatology sector of HOVET - UFRA and in Melhores Amigos Pet Shop´s office. Will be evaluated 50 dogs; 25 dermatologically healthy dogs and 25 dogs with atopic dermatitis with lesions in the axillary area, regardless of gender, age and breed, taking into account the Favrot criteria. The device used will be the Dermatological Videoscopy 250X Napoli / Castells TFT-TM 7000 Vet Cam Dermatological through dry dermatoscopy. The animals will be evaluated only one time for dermatological diagnosis and lesions` characterization.
