RESUMO:

Iguana iguana (green iguana) are ectothermal animals and their thermal ecology depends on many factors mainly of heat and behavior adjustments to maintain their body temperature and perform their metabolic activities, physiology and expression of normal behavior. There are few studies describing parasites and hematological, biochemical and electrocardiographic values of reptiles. It is known that these parameters undergo changes according to sex, age, nutritional status, seasonality, and possibly others, which makes the clinical evaluation and interpretation of the results of these animals a challenge. In the Western region of the State of Pará there is little or no information on the clinical pathology, electrocardiography and hemoparasites of the green iguana, and due to this need, the objective was to perform the hematological, biochemical, hemoparasitary and electrocardiographic studies of I in the municipality of Santarém, Pará, Brazil. Twenty - eight green iguanas captured in the outbuildings of a private property were used in the city of Santarém, Pará, Brazil. Hematological, biochemical and hemoparasitary analyzes were performed with a single blood sample by jugular venipuncture in a heparin anticoagulant tube. The hemogram was performed by counting cells in the Neubauer chamber using the 0.01% Toluidine Blue method. The biochemical analyzes were performed with heparinized plasma and using the methodology of dry biochemistry, in which the evaluations of ALT, AST, Alkaline Phosphatase, GGT, Urea, Creatinine, Uric Acid, Calcium, Phosphorus, Total Cholesterol and Fractions were performed. Hematological and biochemical values were compared in relation to seasonality in two extremes, Amazonian summer and winter. Hemoparasites were investigated in hematological dye stained blood samples and then analyzed under a light microscope with a magnification of 1000x. The hematological alterations caused by these hemoparasites were also evaluated. The electrocardiographic parameters were determined by placing the electrodes in the patient's chest near the anterior limbs. The heart rate, mean electric axis, P wave amplitude and duration, QRS amplitude and duration, P-R interval, Q-T interval, S-T segment and T wave were evaluated.
