SUMMARY:
Aiming at changes in family nuclei with the advent of the multi-species family with the introduction of companion animals to the family, thus increasing the concern of those responsible for animals in terms of diseases that guide them, therefore, research that portray diseases that involve pets, especially with regard to domestic cats, as the proliferation of some disease pathogens occurred to the detriment of the increase in the population of stray cats and with this an increase in cases of infectious diseases and among these agents of the Feline Respiratory Complex (CRF) ). Although considered a cosmopolitan disease and widely distributed in Brazil and in the world, little is known about the occurrence of agents that cause CRF infections, such as Feline Herpesvirus Type 1 (HVF-1) and Chamydophila felis in domestic cats (Felis catus) in the Metropolitan Region de Belém, State of Pará. It should be noted that, so far, there is not much knowledge of records of epidemiological and molecular studies of pathogens that cause FRC in the aforementioned region. In addition, it will bring greater understanding regarding the differential diagnosis of the animals studied for infections caused by Feline Herpesvirus Type 1 (HVF-1) and Chamydophila felis, evaluation of the demographic epidemiological characteristics of the study animals, analysis of risk variables. Based on this, new strategies can be taken to improve and be effective in the differential diagnosis of domestic cats with regard to infections caused by Feline Herpesvirus Type 1 (HVF-1) and Chamydophila felis. Therefore, it is expected that the present study will bring the benefits of evaluating the demographic epidemiological characteristics of the study animals, analyzing the risk variables and carrying out a differential diagnosis of infection by Feline Herpesvirus type 1 (HVF-1) and Chamydophila felis, based on of conjunctival and/or oro-nasal samples and of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)¸ in cats domiciled in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, State of Pará.
