USE OF VIDEODERMATOSCOPY AS AUXILIARY DIAGNOSIS IN CANINE ATOPIC DERMATITIS
Dermatopathy, Dermatoscopy, Inflamoscopy
Several studies have shown that dermoscopy may be very helpful in assisting the diagnosis of inflammatory skin diseases. Atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory, chronic and itchy skin disease, very common in dogs, whose diagnosis is based on the patient's history and clinical manifestations, whithout a specific dermatological exam. With the need for increasingly specific, evolved and less invasive exams, the objective was to evaluate the use of digital videodermatoscopy exam as an auxiliary method for the diagnosis of canine atopic dermatitis. The study was carried out in the Dermatology sector of HOVET - UFRA and in the Melhores Amigos Pet Shop, both located in Belém - Pará. 50 dogs were evaluated; 25 dogs without dermatopathies (control group) and 25 dogs with atopic dermatitis (DA group), with lesions in the axillary area. The device used was the Dermatological Videoscopy 250X Napoli / Castells TFT-TM 7000 Vet Cam, by means of dry dermatoscopy. In the DA group, the lesions observed in dermoscopy were: yellow serocrusts scales (100%, n = 25), pink / reddish background color (80%, n = 20). 100% of the animals had whitish scales and / or plaques, scales adhered to the hair (80%, n = 20), whitish scales on the skin (72%, n = 18), whitish plaques (60%, n = 15), reddis serocrusts scales (40%, n = 10), representing results similar to the dermatoscopy of human atopic dermatitis. The results of this study suggest that videodermatoscopy has shown great potential as a screening method and pre- diagnosis for CAD diagnosis, emphasizing that the characteristic of any dermatopathy must be evaluated taking into account the general clinical context of it.
