Primates are widely used as experimental models for scientific studies and have proven to be effective models for the applicability of techniques in humans. Their taxonomic proximity to humans makes them even more interesting for biomedical, behavioral, and biological applications. By understanding more about the skin of these animals, as well as their biology and behavior, we can develop new treatments and complementary dermatological exams. In order to learn more about the skin of clinically healthy non-human primates (Alouatta caraya), a description was made of their main dermatological aspects and dermatopathies. A form for anamnesis and dermatological diagnosis of non-human primates was also prepared, and dermoscopy data was compared with histological examination to evaluate the usefulness and applicability of dermoscopy for the dermatological examination of non-human primates compared with macroscopic vision, trichogram, and histology
