SUMMARY:

The objective of this study is to understand the transition process from traditional systems to agroforestry systems (SAFs), on the properties of family farmers in the municipality of Tomé-Açu, Pará. Data collection took place in SAFs of small family farmers. The research was organized in three chapters. The first chapter describes the transition history from the traditional system to the SAFs. For this research, quali-quantitative approaches were used, the data collection technique was the structured interview guided through the ODK Collect tool. The preliminary results showed that 73% of the interviewed farmers are from Pará, 62% are aged between 31 and 60 years old, 45% have completed incomplete basic education, 84% work for more than 20 years with family farming, 57% hire daily and 59 % are not part of organizations. 74 species cultivated in the SAFs were identified, the species Euterpe oleracea Mart. (açai), Theobroma cacau L. (cacao), Theobroma grandiflora (cupuaçu) and Piper nigrum L. (black pepper) are the most frequent of the identified arrangements. All SAFs are made up of fruit species and timber species are present in 55% of the arrangements. All SAFs are made up of fruit species and timber species are present in 55% of the arrangements. The data show that 32 properties were identified in the roça category, of these 18 properties presented 01 type of land use and 08 properties presented 02 types before the implementation of the SAF. In the semi-perennial culture category of the 19 properties, 18 presented 01 transition before the implementation of the SAF, 01 property presented 03 transitions before the implementation of the SAF. In the pasture category of the 09 properties, 04 had a transition before the implementation of the SAF. It is concluded that the SAFs practiced in Tomé-Açu are productive systems, as they present diversity, promote environmental balance, food security, and the socioeconomic development of family farmers, since the cultivated species have commercial value. The second chapter deals with Geospatial Migration in the Agroforestry System (SAF): Case study in the Santa Luzia Community, municipality of Tome-Açu / PA. The techniques of digital image processing (PDI) and fieldwork for validation will be applied. The third chapter contemplates the Sustainability Indicators in the Transition from the productive System to the Agroforestry System (SAF) in the municipality of Tome-Açu / PA. The methodology of ALTIERI & NICHOLLS, (2002) will be used.
