RESUMO:

Changes in land use and land cover are one of the main causes of climate change. Studies aim to find sustainable production systems, such as Agroforestry Systems that are being disseminated as a proposal to replace deforested areas. In this way, the study of the biomass estimation in SAF resulting from changes in land use and land cover is relevant to reduce uncertainties regarding estimates of carbon emissions and removals and to understand how they act in environmental processes and sustainability. The objective of this work was to estimate the carbon stock in above-ground biomass in Agroforestry Systems resulting from changes in land use and land cover in the municipality of Tomé-Açú, Pará. The interpretation and classification of images through class discrimination were performed. The polygons were classified 6 size strips of the deforested areas. The results of the mapping were elaborated and thematic letters were prepared. The interpretation and classification of the images were carried through the Random Forest classifier by the Google Earth Engine platform for the classes Forest, Hydrography, Annual Agriculture, Pasture, Secondary Vegetation, SAF type 1, SAF type 2 and Others for the time interval from 1985 to 2018. In addition, a forest inventory was carried out in 5 different SAFs from the analysis of vegetation structure at different ages and floristic composition. For the validation of the data were implemented in the GEE script 15 vegetation indexes that were later correlated between the spectral variables. Statistical analysis was performed using the Tukey test and the Pearson correlation coefficient. For the period between 1985 and 2018, the expansion of deforestation resulted in a forest loss of approximately 298 thousand ha, being 57% of the area of the municipality. In all years, high values of polygons were observed in the range <6.25 ha and a reduced value in the interval> 50 ha. Small fragments (<6.25 ha) accounted for 15% of all deforestation, while large ones (> 50 ha) accounted for 45%.As preliminary results can be observed that in the classification of land use and land cover for the year 2018 the forest class represented about 41.35% of Tomé-Açú, and of the 58% of non-forest, secondary vegetation and annual 21.39% and 12.14% respectively. The Kappa index presented an accuracy of 0.92, considering the excellent classification. The highest number of individuals per ha occurred in SAF 3 and the lowest in SAF 2, especially Euterpe oleracea and Theobroma cacao.
