SUMMARY:

Forest plantations emerged as a necessity to replace the use of wood derived from native
forests, alleviating the pressure on these areas. With advancements in planting techniques,
it has become possible to enhance production through integration systems, combining tree
components with livestock and/or agricultural species. Paricá (Schizolobium parahyba
var. amazonicum Huber ex. Ducke Barneby) is a fast-growing pioneer species, primarily
used for veneer production for plywood, with a utilization rate of up to 82% of the log.The
main objective of this study is to model and analyze the growth of Paricá plantations in a
silvopastoral system using the stem analysis technique. The specific objectives are to
estimate biomass and carbon using mathematical equations, project the harvest volume,
and economically evaluate the volume of wood, carbon, and livestock. The study was
conducted at Cinco Águas Farm, located in the municipality of Abel Figueiredo, a private
property with 46 hectares of Paricá plantation (S. parahyba var. amazonicum Huber ex.
Ducke Barneby) established in January 2019 and February 2020, within an integrated
livestock-forestry (ILF) system. Measurements were taken in 2023 when the trees were 4
and 3 years old, and in 2024 at 5 and 4 years of age. Log scaling was performed using the
Hohenadl method, and disks were extracted from the diameter at breast height (DBH), at
0%, 5%, 15%, 25%, 35%, 45%, 55%, 65%, 75%, 85%, and 95% of the total height for
stem analysis. Initially, for diameter distribution, the three-parameter Weibull probability
density function was adjusted for each stratum using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test level
and the chi-square test at a 5% significance level. For stratum 3 in 2023, the chi-square
test was significant, whereas for strata 1 and 2, neither the Kolmogorov-Smirnov nor the
chi-square tests were significant. Subsequently, models are expected to be developed
based on the following relationships: height and age (via anamorphosis); dominant height
and production; and age and production.
