SUMMARY:

The general objective of this project is to evaluate efficiency indicators of the
skidding operation, with the aim of answering the scientific question: “What indicators
guide skidding efficiency at different sites and what are their dynamics over time?”.
The specific objectives are I - Analyze the dynamics of the quality indicators
proposed by the company during the period from 2021 to 2023; II - Identify the
indicators with the greatest contribution to the quality of the operation by means of a
mixed-effect logistic generalized linear model; III - Classify the dynamics of the
indicators proposed by the company via operational efficiency (EO) for the different
sites for the period from 2021 to 2023; IV - Indicate average values and classify the
quality of the operation based on historical data and data collected in the field. The
study is being carried out in the forest management area (AMF) belonging to the
Algar Farming company, located between the municipalities of Bagre and Portel, in
the state of Pará. The company uses an operation quality monitoring form with 8
indicators. The temporal dynamics of these indicators will be analyzed using multiple
linear regression with the data available for the period from 2021 to 2023. The
contribution of the indicators to the quality of the operation and the classification of
their dynamics via EO will be carried out using mixed-effect logistic linear models. To
define the sites, the characteristics of slope and altitude will be used as a basis,
using geoprocessing techniques. The quality classification will be based on the
statistical method. The classes established by this method will be converted into four
quality classes for the operation: excellent, good, regular and irregular. The analyses
will be carried out using R software version 4.3.1 and RStudio version 5701.9. For
the year 2023, the most prominent class was “regular” with 106 observations,
followed by “good” with 61 and “irregular” with 44. The “excellent” class was the least
frequent, with only 10. The geoprocessing analysis shows that the slope of the study
area is predominantly flat and gently undulating, while the predominant altitude is
between 40 and 60m. This project is expected to scientifically validate the monitoring
methodology evaluated and/or support its improvement, as well as revealing
unpublished data on the relationship between site characteristics and sustainable
forest management in the Amazon.
