SUMMARY:
Soil contamination by heavy metals represents a high potential for danger in the agricultural sector, in addition to bringing imminent risks to ecosystems and human health. Faced with the problems caused by excess nickel (Ni) and other metals, it is necessary to adopt eco-sustainable techniques aimed at removing or stabilizing them in the soil, to help mitigate the effects of pollutants on ecosystems. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the antioxidant system of young plants of Schizolobium amazonicum Huber ex Ducke when affected to different concentrations of Ni. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse from November 2018 to September 2019. Sowing was carried out in Leonard-type pots, adapted with pet bottles, containing sterilized sand (120 ºC for 40 min.), with a capacity of 4 .6 L. After 15 days, the seedlings received Sarruge's nutrient solution. After 60 days, the application of Ni concentrations in the form of hydrated Ni chloride (NiCL2.H2O) was started. The experimental design adopted was completely randomized (DIC), with five treatments (0, 200, 400, 600 and 800 mL L-1 NiCl2). The data will be submitted to analysis of variance by the F test (p<0.05), if adjustment is needed, by polynomial regression equations P<0.01 or 0.05 with the aid of the Sisvar program. As a result of the study, it is expected that the activity of the enzymes guaiacol peroxidase (G-POD), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) decrease with increasing doses of Ni, resulting in changes structures of S. amazonicum. It is also expected that the low translocation of the metal to the aerial part contributes to the profile of S. amazonicum in presenting phytoremediation potential.
