RESUMO:

The objective of this study is to understand the productive socio-historical process and the management of agroforestry systems in the municipality of Tomé-Açu/PA, Pará state, Brazil. Data collection took place in agroforestry systems of small rural farmers. Qualitative and quantitative approaches were used, the data collection technique was the guided interview through ODK Collect. For the floristic survey will be made a floristic inventory to evaluate the floristic composition, abundance and frequency of species in agroforestry systems. The research was organized into three chapters. The first chapter describes the history of transition to agroforestry systems. Preliminary results showed that: more than half of the small farmers interviewed had a type of transition and the category the type of land use prior to the most used agroforestry system was type 4: Capoeira (capoeirão, capoeirinha); Juquira (age ≥  03 years); Abandoned pasture (age ≥  05 years); Sitio (age ≥  10 years), Cabruca when compared to the largest quantitative land use transition and to the Type 1 composite groups: Mata; Type 2: Roça and Type 3: Perennial culture. The second chapter will analyze the floristic composition and types of uses in agroforestry systems. The third chapter deals with management practices in the different agroforestry systems.
