SUMMARY:

Related research on promising species for the composition of forest plantations, mainly for
energy purposes, has gained more visibility. The species Tachigali vulgaris, commonly
known as tachi-branco, has stood out as having potential in the composition of energy forests
in the Amazon. This is due to its characteristics, such as its rapid growth, high litter
production and wood quality. This study will aim to quantify aerial biomass and carbon
stocks from experimental Tachigali vulgaris plantations in the Amazon. The planting of T.
vulgaris seedlings was carried out at the Igarapé-Açu School Farm (FEIGA) of the Federal
Rural University of the Amazon (UFRA), located in the municipality of Igarapé-Açu-PA, in
March 2016. The spacing is 2 x 3 meters between plants, totaling 1,728 individuals planted in
4 strips, with a distance of 5 meters between them. Each track features 27 installments. Each
plot represents a treatment, consisting of factorial arrangements, in which the application of
the factors nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) were combined at 3 different
levels (dosages) of each factor. Each treatment consists of 16 plants, totaling 27 combinations
(plots) forming an application block of NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium) in 4
replications, which totals 1,728 plants that received top dressing. A forest census was carried
out, which consisted of measuring the diameter at breast height (DBH) of all individuals.
Then, to obtain the variables height (H) and crown diameter (DC), systematic sampling was
carried out, measuring two individuals per plot. . In addition, other parameters were obtained,
such as bole classification and identification (CIF), plant health (FITO) and canopy lighting
(ILU). Partial results showed 20% tree mortality. The diameters of the trees had an average of
14.60 cm, a minimum of 2.4 cm, a maximum of 29.1 cm and a standard deviation of 4.8 cm.
While the values obtained for variables height and canopy diameter were, on average, 18.01
m and 4.05 m, minimum 7 m and 0.9 m, maximum 23.6 m and 7.42 m respectively. In the
distribution of diameter classes, there was a greater concentration of individuals in the central
classes of the distribution, common in planted forests. The majority of individuals are in the
fourth and fifth diameter classes, representing 60.97% of the total number of individuals. This
data will provide support for the next two chapters of the dissertation. The first chapter will
address the quantification of aerial biomass, which will consist of felling 1 tree per treatment,
totaling 27 trees. The choice of each tree will determine the diameter distribution per
treatment. With this, leaves, branches and bole will be felled and sectioned in the
compartments. The second chapter will address carbon estimation through allometric
equations. Samples will be taken from felled trees, where each wooden disc will be
approximately 5 cm thick. First, the cubing will be carried out using the Hohenadl method,
then the discs will be removed at the following positions 0, 0.05, 0.25, 0.55, 0.75 and 0.95 to
determine the basic density, in addition to checking the effect of the variable diameter and
bifurcation on this physical property of wood.
