"FLORA OF SERRA DOS MARTÍRIOS/ANDORINHAS AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AREA, SÃO GERALDO DO ARAGUAIA, PARÁ, BRAZIL: ASTERACEAE."
Asteraceae; Amazon; Cerrado; Hotspot.
Asteraceae Bercht. & J. Presl is one of the most expressive families of angiosperms, with approximately 32,897 spp. distributed in a cosmopolitan way. In Brazil, 2,205 spp. distributed in 326 genres. Taxonomic studies on Asteraceae are essential in the Amazon and Brazilian Cerrado, given the floristic richness of these biomes of continental proportions. In this context, the present taxonomic study, directed to the Asteraceae family, added herborized material from species occurring in a small ecotone between the Amazon and Cerrado, thus expanding the knowledge about the distribution of these taxa. The research identified 29 specimens and 23 genera, with one specimen (Eupatorieae sp.) lacking further study for its identification. Five species showed exclusive endemism to the cerrado (Chromolaena ferrugínea, Eitenia praxelioides, Praxelis diffusa, Lessingianthus semirii and Lepidaploa remotiflora) and one species exclusive to the Amazon (Aspilia ulei). In this way, the research contributed to knowledge of the Amazon and Brazilian Cerrado.
