SUMMARY:

Located in the middle Xingu region, Pará, the set of protected areas known as Terra do Meio Mosaic is formed by Conservation Units and important Indigenous Lands. The region has a satisfactory state of conservation and is extremely relevant for its biodiversity, location and influence on the livelihood of the surrounding traditional populations. The Serra do Pardo National Park is one of the fully protected Conservation Units established since decree in 2005 that composes the Terra do Meio Mosaic, it is mostly composed of primary forest, but suffers constant threats due to mining, agriculture and farming in the region. Thus, the objective of this work is to evaluate the richness and composition of bryophytes present in the Serra do Pardo National Park. The specimens were collected between April and May 2012, in 18 plots of 10 x 10 m, resulting in 450 samples. Through statistical analysis, the bryophyte communities will be assessed for richness and composition between plots and composition per plot in different areas. To date, 45 species of liverworts and mosses have been identified, distributed in 13 families and 25 genera. Based on the results of this study, it is expected to present a scientific article on the flora of bryophytes found in the Serra do Pardo National Park and contribute to expand the distribution of studies and species of bryophytes to the southern region of the state of Pará.
