RESUMO:

Aquatic macrophytes play an important role in nutrient cycling, providing shelter and food for a variety of species in these environments. Abiotic and biotic factors are determining factors in the richness, abundance and distribution of this group. Functional attributes are defined as morphological, physiological and phenological characteristics that affect efficiency through their effects on growth, reproduction and survival. The aim of this study was to assess whether abiotic variables influence the richness, composition and functional attributes of aquatic plants. We carried out three campaigns in 13 bodies of water in Vila do Conde and Vila dos Cabanos, in the municipality of Barcarena, Pará, Brazil. We assign three categories: Control Group, Indirect Impact Potential (PII) and Direct Impact Potential (PID), within the Murucupi River basin. In each stream, we use a 50 m transection. We measured the richness, abundance and morphological and physiological attributes of the macrophyte Becquerelia cymosa Brongn. We found 27 species of macrophytes. Cyperaceae had the largest number of species (14). In the Control group we found 15 species, in the PII we registered 19 species and in the PID 28 species were found. A PID point showed a greater abundance of macrophytes (Shannon 0.972). There was no difference between the three treatments in this study. Although there are some influences on environmental variables in the sampled locations, there is no significant difference between the three treatments. There was a 70% relationship between environmental variables and macrophyte richness. Regarding the morphological attributes, we identified differences between treatments for the leaf area and specific leaf area. We found no differences between treatments when measuring the water potential of plants. There was a difference between collections at noon and at dawn. In general, we found no differences in macrophyte diversity. Complementary studies can be made significant within the areas of this study, continuing with monitoring, as it is an area of great industrial support and with great urban growth.
