"REVIEW OF RUST FUNGI (PUCCINIALES) ON PLANTS OF THE MAGNOLIIDS CLADE IN BRAZILIAN AMAZON"
rust, phytopathogen, fungal diversity
Rust fungi (Pucciniales) are biotrophic phytoparasites that cause plant disease and are classified in the phylum Basidiomycota and in the class Pucciniomycetes. These fungi have high specificity regarding their hosts, parasitizing several plant species. This study aims to carry out taxonomic studies with morphological and molecular basis in fungi that cause rust (Pucciniales) in plants of the Magnolid clade, from collections from the Brazilian Amazon. For this, a survey will be carried out in the Herbariums of the Brazilian Amazon, as well as additional collections to complement the study. The results are expected to increase knowledge of the diversity of Pucciniales in the Brazilian Amazon, to describe possible new species and new records for the region, as well as to disseminate the results in scientific journals with qualis ≥ B2.
