RESUMO:

1. Dichaea is monophylytic, neotropical and is the most representative genus of the subtribe Zygopetalinae Schltr., with 118 species. In Brazil, 27 species are recognized, and are distributed in the Amazon, Cerrado and Atlantic Forest. The genus is characterized by predominantly epiphytic species, with a stem not swollen in pseudobulb, usually anchor-shaped, and elliptic-suborbicular stigma, with or without basal ligule. Generic recognition can be done through analysis of the vegetative morphology, but identification at a specific level requires a meticulous analysis of reproductive characters, especially characteristics of the lip. The lack of studies focusing on Dichaea in the state of Pará allows us to suppose that the diversity of this genus is underestimated for this region. The aim of this study was to carry out a taxonomic study of the genus Dichaea in the state of Pará, with descriptions and nomenclature revisions, in order to supply the lack of information for the identification of species, in addition to highlight possible ecological peculiarities. Fieldwork was carried out in the Mesoregion Metropolitan Belém (Belém and Castanhal), Mesoregion of Nordeste Paraense (Abaetetuba, Garrafão do Norte, Peixe-Boi, Santa Maria do Pará and Tracuateua) and Mesoregion of Baixo Amazonas (Oriximiná and Santa Terra). The collection of the herbaria FC, HBRA, HCP, HF, HIFPA, HSTM, IAN, INPA, MFS, MG, RB and SP were consulted. In the state of Pará, the genus is represented by 12 species, which differ mainly by leaf shape, stem length, infrastigma ligula, size and shape of the lip. We reviewed 124 specific and intraspecific names, allowing the identification of two new species for science: Dichaea sp. 1 and Dichaea sp. 2. Dichaea boliviana is recorded for the first time in Brazil and Dichaea fusca and Dichaea mattogrossensis constitute new occurrences for the state. It is also proposed a synonymization of Dichaea integrilabia under Dichaea saraca-taquerensis.
