Frullania Raddi (Frullaniaceae, Marchantiophyta) in Brazil
Taxonomy; Frullaniaceae; Species.
Frullania belongs to Frullaniaceae and comprises 573 species distributed on the globe, with a wide distribution and more than 2000 binomials already published. In Brazil, the study of the genus is restricted to some regions of the country. In Brazil, 36 species have been identified, organized in seven subgenres Chonanthelia, Diastaloba, Frullania, Homotropantha, Thyopsiella, Meteoriopsis and Saccophora. The study of the genus Frullania is challenging, given its very variable characteristics and strongly related to environmental conditions. Being a group of extreme importance, the objective of this dissertation was to carry out the study of the species for Brazil, organizing them according to the accepted subgeneric division. An artificial key is provided for the subgenera and their respective species as well as the taxonomic description, comments and illustrations of all species. The species were analyzed through consultation or loans from Brazilian herbariums abroad. Four synonyms and one new lectotypes are assigned, three new occurrences and a new species is described for science.
