EFFECT OF LAND USE CHANGES IN THE LANDSCAPE STRUCTURE IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF TOMÉ-AÇU, PARÁ
paraense northeast, oil palm, landscape metrics.
The microregion of Tomé-Açú, northeast of Pará, is marked by changes in the landscape due to the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.), A remarkable monoculture that has finally reorganized the space and the territorial dynamics in this part of the Amazon. The Sustainable Palm Oil Production Program (PPSOP), created in 2010, provides for the cultivation of 316 thousand hectares of oil palm planted area by 2019, involving more than 30 municipalities in the northeast of Para. Thus, the expansion of the oil palm takes on a marked dynamics, causing substantial changes in the structure of the landscape where the application of ecological indexes is justified so that a detailed analysis can be made of changes in land use in landscape configuration, refers to the loss of primary forest due to the production of palm oil in the municipality of Tomé-Açu. In this context, this work aims to identify the spatial and temporal patterns of land use changes and their effect on the forest landscape structure in the municipality of Tomé-Açu, Pará, in the years 2000, 2010 and 2018. The image clipping will be obtained through the ENVI version 4.5 program, where the unsupervised classification will be applied to the Landsat TM-5 and Landsat 8 image, using the ISODATA (Interative Self-Organizing Data Analysis Technique) clustering algorithm. For each year of study, a thematic map will be prepared in order to verify the trajectory of vegetation cover and land use. For the analysis of the landscape structure, four metrics will be used, taking into account the primary forest class: occupied proportion (PLAND), density of fragments (PD), medium proximity (PROX-MN) and highest spot index (LPI). The calculations will be performed through the program Fragstats 3.3. Thus, it is expected to find significant differences in land use between the proposed years, with a greater expansion of oil palm after 2010; and the obtaining of information, based on the application of landscape metrics, that subsidize the sustainability of land uses, placing conservation in analyzes of the expansion of crops in the Amazon, such as the oil palm.
