RESUMO:

Orchidaceae is one of the largest and most specialized family among the Angiosperms, with about 25,000 species distributed into 800 genera, and about 70% of the species present the epiphytic habit. Epiphytism is one of the main evolutional features related to the increase of orchid diversity. Studies involving the relationship between epiphytes and forophytes have shown imminent and necessary, since some species are known to have specificity or preference for certain support-trees, either at the specific or family level. Studies covering the flora of Igarapé-Miri, located in the Lower Tocantins region, in the state of Pará, are non-existent and the municipality does not have Conservation Units, either full protection or sustainable use. Thus, the present study aims to carry out the floristic-taxonomic study of the Orchidaceae family of Igarapé-Miri, Pará, Brazil and to characterize the diversity of epiphytic orchids on Attalea maripa (Aubl.) Mart. (Areacaceae) in Igarapé-Miri. For this, identification key, maps of the geographical distribution and illustrations of the diagnostic characteristics of each species will be elaborated. Initially, the HCP, HF, HIFPA, IAN, INPA, MFS and MG herbaria will be surveyed to identify specimens from the region. Furthermore, monthly excursions will be carried out from September 2018 to October 2019 in forest remnants of the municipality, covering both the floodplain forest and the terra firme, in order to collect fertile botanical material. The specimenswill be incorporated into the MG herbarium, with duplicates sent to the HCP. For the phytosociological study of the epiphytic orchids that occur in phorophytes of A maripa (six plots of 50mx50m will be established, totaling a sampled area of 1.5 hectares. Preliminary data collection in HIFPA, MFS and MG herbaria and preliminary sampling suggest that the Igarapé-Miri harbours a great diversity of Orchidaceae species, since, to date, 24 species were found, belonging to 18 genera. The most representative genera were Catasetum Rich. ex Kunth, and Epidendrum L. with three species each, followed by Anathallis Barb. Rodr. and Scaphyglottis Poepp. & Endl., with two species each; all other genera were represented by only one species each. Of the total species, 18 have an epiphytic life form, four are terrestrial (Cyrtopodium virescens Rchb. F. & Warm, Ligeophila juruenensis (Hoehne) Garay, Palmorchis sobralioides Barb.Rodr., and Sacoila lanceolata (Aubl.) Garay ) and two are saprophytes (Uleiorchis sp. and Wullschlaegelia calcarata Benth.).
