SUMMARY:
The integration between the traditional use of useful plants and the educational approach in the Amazonian setting is important for the conservation and appreciation of essential knowledge for the maintenance of cultures such as that expressed through plants in the municipality of Abaetetuba-PA. The purpose of this research is to promote the integration and application between the use and educational approach of useful plants and ethnobotanical artifacts to teach and appreciate botany in the Amazonian setting, bringing theory closer to practice and rescuing traditional knowledge. The hypothesis was that science and biology teachers in elementary school in the municipality of Abaetetuba have conceptual obstacles that make it difficult to connect botany teaching with ethnobotanical elements present in the culture of the region, causing significant losses to the understanding, perception, contextualization and appreciation of empirical knowledge in the scientific field. This is a qualitative ethnographic research, with the number of teachers not yet defined, which will be determined by snowball sampling and visits to schools in the municipal education network of Abaetetuba. Data will be collected through semi-structured interviews with teachers. The aim is to promote research and appreciation of regional species with great cultural and economic potential in Abaetetuba, while safeguarding traditional knowledge about plants and giving visibility to this heritage in the school environment. The use of elements from the daily lives of a people through contextualized education helps in integration with nature and cultural appreciation, which can be achieved through continued teacher training.
