SUMMARY:
" The Hymenochaetaceae family (Hymenochaetales, Agaricomycetes) presents a wide diversity with around 900 species described worldwide, and its representatives act as saprophytes, pathogens, and ectomycorrhizal, and are fundamental to natural ecosystems. For many years, the identification of Hymenochaetaceae taxa was marked by the grouping of genera and species based only morphological characteristics. However, since many species in this family present few heterogeneity in morphological characters, the use of molecular tools is an important method for correctly delimiting taxa, to better understand and delimiting morphological complexes. The main objective of this project is to carry out a taxonomic study through morphological and molecular analyses of Hymenochaetaceae species in areas of the Eastern Brazilian Amazonia. The specimens studied will come from collections carried out in five areas in the state of Pará [Bujaru, Floresta Nacional (FLONA) de Saracá-Taquera, Parque Estadual do Utinga Camillo Vianna, Mocajuba, Tomé-Açu] between the years 2020 and 2023. For to complement the studies, only one new collection will be carried out in Saracá-Taquera in 2024. In addition, a review will be carried out of materials from the state of Amapá, Serra do Navio, deposited in the João Murça Pires herbarium (MG) of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG). Macroscopic (shape, size and color) and microscopic (measurements and shapes of fertile and sterile structures) morphological analyses of the collected specimens will also be carried out. Phylogenetic analyses will be based on the following molecular markers: ITS, LSU, tef1-α and rpb2). Until now, 105 specimens have been collected, of which 38 have been morphologically analyzed and represent 22 species. The materials in the MG herbarium collection represent 15 species. The future results obtained are expected to contribute to the taxonomic knowledge of the Hymenochaetaceae family in the Eastern Amazonia, understand the phylogenetic relationships of the species studied and present possible new taxa for science. In addition to providing subsidies for management plans and monitoring of Conservation Units."
