SUMMARY:

Orchidaceae is the second largest botanical family in Brazil, with 122 species and 52 genera recorded in restingas, of which 25 genera and 44 species occur in the restingas of the Amazon. Thus, the objective is to carry out a taxonomic study of Orchidaceae in the restingas of the Salgado Microregion (MS), in the state of Pará, Brazil, aiming to synthesize diffuse information and complement it through new collections. Field expeditions will be carried out between October 2023 and November 2024 in the restingas of the municipalities of Curuçá, Maracanã, Marapanim, Salinópolis and São João de Pirabas. Regional herbarium collections (FC, HBRA, HCP, HF, HIFPA, IAN, MFS and MG) will be consulted in person and species data will also be collected from digital databases and relevant literature. Sixteen species have been identified in the restingas of MS until now, namely: Catasetum discolor, Catasetum macrocarpum, Catasetum roseoalbum, Cleistes rosea, Encyclia granitica, Epidendrum carpophorum, Epidendrum ciliare, Epidendrum nocturnum, Epidendrum strobiliferum, Habenaria leprieurii, Habenaria petalodes, Habenaria setacea, Oeceoclades maculata, Polystachya concreta, Sobralia liliastrum, and Trichocentrum cepula, for which descriptions will be elaborate, in addition to the preparation of a taxonomic key and a photographic guide.
