SUMMARY:
Lentibulariaceae Rich. comprise about 360 species included in three genera: Genlisea A.St.-Hill., Pinguicula L. and Utricularia L. In Brazil, two genera are recorded: Genlisea, with 19 native species and 12 endemic to the country, and Utricularia, with 71 native and 21 endemic species. So far, 19 species of the family have been recorded in Maranhão, but this number may be underestimated, given the wide hydrographic network of the state and the extensive wetlands such as the baixada and Lençóis maranhenses, which are still poorly sampled. In order to contribute to the knowledge of the biodiversity of the state, a taxonomic review of the Lentibulariaceae from Maranhão is in progress, with indications for the conservation status of these species. Field expeditions are being carried out in the main preserved areas of the state, prioritizing Conservation Units, in order to sample and photograph specimens, which will be deposited in herbaria in the region. Complete morphological descriptions, taxonomic keys, illustrations, maps and comments on geographic distribution and conservation status of the species will be produced. Thus, this investigation will expand the floristic knowledge of the Lentibulariaceae in Maranhão, locating possible new species, new occurrences or endangered species. In this dissertation project, preliminary results are presented on the field expeditions already carried out, as well as the species already sampled.
