SUMMARY:

This work consists of a taxonomic review of Matayba Aubl. and its sections M. sect. Apiomatayba, M. sect. Macaca and M. sect. Ratonia, since the taxonomic treaties available in the literature that include species of the genus are local floras and/or descriptions of new species. The study was based on an analysis of the collections of national herbaria, as well as photos of exsiccates available online from international herbaria. Additionally, collections of botanical material are being carried out, which will be properly herborized and incorporated into the collection of the MG herbarium. The identification of species is being carried out based on consultation with protologs, types and/or photographs of types of the binomials related to the genus.
