Bryophytes from Baixo Tocantins, Pará, Brazil: diversity in different types of vegetation and the influence of the type of restoration in Terra Firme areas in the municipality of Abaetetuba

The state of Pará has seven important hydrographic macro-regions, among which the Tocantins-Araguaia hydrographic basin stands out, located in the northeast of the state and considered one of the most important basins in the country, surpassed only by the Amazon River basin. This region can also be called Baixo Tocantins, and stands out for being one of the oldest areas of colonization in the state of Pará, composed of 11 municipalities (including Abaetetuba) that are bathed mainly by the Tocantins, Moju and Pará rivers. It is formed by a heterogeneous set of ecosystems, with emphasis on the forests of terra firme, floodplain, igapó, mangroves, campinas and freshwater beaches. Studies on the diversity of bryophytes in Baixo Tocantins are scarce and under-sampled. This dissertation is divided into two chapters. The first chapter entitled "Diversity of bryophytes in different types of vegetation in the Baixo Tocantins Basin, Eastern Amazon" aimed to investigate the diversity of bryophyte species in different types of vegetation (terra firme, floodplain and freshwater beach) in the municipality of Abaetetuba. , Baixo Tocantins, and compare these same parameters with other areas located in hydrographic basins in the state of Pará. The second chapter, entitled “The restoration process of a terra firme forest in Baixo Tocantins (Eastern Amazon) influences the restoration of the bryophytes?”, aimed to test whether the type of restoration influences the reestablishment of the bryophyte community in terra firme forests in the Lower Tocantins region, providing subsidies for the restoration and conservation of flora diversity in the Amazon.
