database, vanilla, conservation, niche modeling, orchids
Brazilian biodiversity is an immeasurable natural patrimony, but currently, hundreds of species are at risk of extinction. In this scenario, much of the attention turned to the Amazon Forest, which occupies about 58.9% of the Brazilian territory. The general objective is to evaluate the conservation status of Vanilla species occurring in the Brazilian Amazon. The vegetation is predominantly Dense Ombrophilous Forest, but there are also several other types of vegetation, such as Igapó Forest, Terra Firme Forest and Campinarana. The ecological and distribution data of the species will be obtained from the compilation and analysis of the information available at the electronic databases of SpeciesLink and JABOT and visits in loco to the herbaria of Pará (HIFPA, HBRA, IAN, MG). Based on the initial survey, 137 specimens of Vanilla were found in the Brazilian Amazon, distributed in the states of Amazonas, Amapá, Acre, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Roraima, Rondônia and Tocantins. Vanilla palmarum (Salzm. ex Lindl.) Lindl. is the most collected species in the Brazilian Amazon, with 33 specimens.
