SUMMARY:

Jatobá (Hymenaea courbaril L.) is a large tree species that occurs naturally in the Amazon biome, belongs to the Caesalpiniaceae family, and due to its multiple uses, it has great socio-environmental importance. Storage aims to store and conserve a product until its use, allowing a temporal distribution of the same. Although the economic exploitation of this culture is increasing mainly in the Amazon region, the collection of information is still limited, especially related to the processing and quality of seeds. Given the above, the objective of this research is to evaluate the influence of types of packaging on the physiological quality of seeds during storage. The experiment will be carried out in the Laboratório de Análises de Sementes (LASEM) of the Instituto de Ciências Agrárias (ICA) of the Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia (UFRA) - Campus Belém, using jatobá (Hymenaea courbaril L.) seeds from the Floresta Nacional dos Carajás. . A completely randomized design (DIC) will be used, in a 5x3 factorial scheme, with 4 replications, totaling 60 plots. The treatments will consist of 5 storage periods (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 months) and three types of packaging (PET bottle, plastic packaging and Kraft paper packaging). Every two months, tests will be carried out to evaluate the physiological quality of the seeds, such as the first count test, standard germination test, electrical conductivity, accelerated aging test and determination of water content. In addition to these tests, physical characteristics of the seeds will also be determined in each storage period. For statistical analysis, data will be subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Tukey's test at 5% probability using the R software.
