geographic distribution, ant, maxent.
Ants like all insects depend on abiotic conditions, especially, temperature and humidity
for their development, being more diverse and abundant in tropical areas of the globe.
Several species are distributed in various areas of the planet and others are restricted to
certain zoogeographic regions. For example, the Paraponera Clavata (Fabricius, 1775)
which is the only kind of recent ant subfamily parapowerinare, known as Tucandeira; It
occurs only in the Nicaragua, from Nicaragua, Central America, Central Southern
Brazil, South America. However, the geographical distribution of this species needs to
be better defined considering that the latest works show large gaps, especially in the
Brazil. Faced with this, it was aimed to know and understand the predictive distribution
of Paraponera Clavata Fr. Smith, 1775 in the northern region of Brazil, through the
potential distribution modeling (MDP) of the Maxent algorithm. To do so, a species
database will be created, with information available in scientific collections of
educational institutions and national surveys (INPA, MPEG, IBSP-IB, ZUFMS-HYM,
MCTP-insects) Databases of Trusted Internet Sites SpeciesLink
(https://splink.cria.org.br/), Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF,
https://www.gbif.org/) and information system on Brazilian biodiversity (sibbr, https: //
www .sibbr.gov.br /). The database counts on the following information: municipality,
location, collector, number of individuals, subfamily, gender, species, caste, registration
number, collection date, geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude) in UTM,
altitude, number of Reference in the collection, relative air temperature, air humidity,
soil type, rainfall, which will be subsequently standardized. For modeling, the
maximum entropy algorithm (maxent) will be used to obtain data on the potential
distribution area of the species. In this way, we hope to know if there is a pattern of
Paraponera Clavata distribution expanding the range of variables studied and, verify
whether it occurs standard difference between geographic areas that can base proposal
for environmental use and conservation.
