RESUMO:

The analysis of productivity, effects and viability of irrigation and climatic conditions on cowpea in the Amazon are studies necessary to optimize production in the State of Pará, in order to know the impacts that the reduction of the evapotranspiration understood by the transfer of water vapor into the atmosphere of both the soil surface and the transpiration of the plants can cause crop yield. The estimation of evapotranspiration through the water balance method requires the knowledge of the variation of soil water storage in a given volume that among the methods adopted in the monitoring is Time domain reflectometry (TDR). Considering the influence of soil physical and chemical variables on the process of water measurement by technology, the apparent dielectric constant (KA) readings may lead to inadequate estimates of soil volumetric moisture with the TDR technique in sub or overestimated in this way, the objective was to determine and evaluate calibration models for the estimation of the volumetric moisture of water in a Dystrophic Yellow Latosol of the Northeast of Paraense by Time Domain Reflectometry through undisturbed samples and by the gravimetric method with adjustment of equations, as well as the comparison with curves of calibration considered reference in the literature inserted and recommended in soil moisture sensors. The linear and cubic polynomial adjustments presented the best performance evaluations of the water volumetric moisture in the soil studied from the gravimetric data, and the CS616 sensor manufacturer's equations were inadequate because they underestimated the apparent dielectric constant values of the soil. All models of the literature presented overestimations of soil moisture values from the gravimetric data. The estimation of evapotranspiration of the real and crop of the cowpea by the water balance method by drainage lysimeter in the edaphoclimatic conditions of the Parana Northeast in Castanhal, Pará in random blocks, with six replications and four treatments of restoration of the evapotranspiration of the culture, initiated from the reproductive stage of cowpea, cultivar BR3-Tracuaterua T1 (100% Etc), T2 (50% Etc), T3 (25% Etc) and T4 (0% Etc) where grain yield was evaluated through analysis of variance and the Tukey test at 5% probability, total evapotranspiration of the cowpea of 337.5 was obtained; 284.35; 258.62 and 219.82 mm with a mean consumption of 4.6, 3.90, 3.54 and 3.01 mm day for T1, T2, T3 and T4. The declines in grain yield ranged from 18.91, 33.12 and 57.17%, with a significant difference in grain yield among all treatments. The flowering stage presented the highest water demand with 5.88 mm daand the highest sensitivity to the water deficit quantified by the dry matter response factor (Kss). Both Ky and Kss showed an increase in the severity of the water restriction imposed by environmental conditions. Cowpea had a Ky of 1.48 and Kss of 2.03, 1.08 and 0.87 for flowering, grain filling and physiological maturation, indicating that the plant has a high sensitivity to water deficit in the climatic conditions of Northeast of Para.
