SUMMARY:

The increase in the world population and the need to produce more and more food have generated a search for greater productivity in agricultural areas, increasing the demand for fertilizers. One of the alternative sources of agricultural fertilizers, with organic origin, is biochar, a product rich in carbon, produced by the slow thermochemical pyrolysis of biomass that has been applied to the soil as a conditioner, improving physical and chemical properties. When enriched, it enhances its physical and chemical characteristics. The use of rock dust associated with biochar can increase the biochar's ability to provide nutrients, reducing the application of chemical fertilizers, as well as the costs of agricultural production. The objective was to characterize the properties (physical and chemical) and evaluate the nutrient release capacity of organomineral materials (biochars from açaí residues associated with rock dust). The laboratory experiment (production and characterization) was conducted at the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (Belém, Pará, Brazil). Biochars were produced associated with three types of rock dust called SM and TA (from mines in the municipality of Tracuateua – Pará) and TB (Transamazônica – Pará), produced at four pyrolysis temperatures (400, 500, 600 and 700 ºC ), with two percentages of rock dust: 40 and 60%). The following were analyzed: pH and water-soluble carbon, chemical fractionation of the elements P, K, Ca, Mg, Ba, Sr and V was carried out. The pH increased with the increase in the pyrolysis temperature. Soluble carbon contents also increased with increasing temperature, with the highest values occurring in materials from Tracuateua (SM and TB). The pyrolysis process increased the solubilization of P, K, Ca and Mg, but increased the solubility of the elements Ba, Sr and V, present in the rock powder, however the levels are in accordance with Brazilian legislation, for organomineral fertilizers. The production of organomineral fertilizer from biochar associated with rock dust constitutes an environmentally correct alternative, as it uses organic and mineral waste, and is potentially economical and conservationist, as it allows for an increase in nutrient levels.
