SUMMARY:

The coconut palm is a plant widely cultivated in tropical regions of more than ninety countries. However, the seedling stage presents prolonged challenges, including low germination rate, high management costs and prolonged production time. This study aimed to select and identify isolates of Trichoderma spp. capable of improving the nutritional efficiency of Anão-verde-do-brasil coconut seedlings, in addition to investigating the physiological and growth switches associated with nutrient use efficiency (NUE). The experiment was carried out at the Plant Protection Laboratory (LPP) of the Federal Rural University of Amazônia (UFRA) and at the Reunidas SOCOCO Farm, in Santa Isabel, Pará. Rice plants (Oriza sativa L.) were used to select the Trichoderma spp. as growth promoters, being tested nine isolates and a control treatment. Of the 9 isolates evaluated, 3 were selected. In a commercial coconut tree nursery, the seedlings were maintained under two treatments: control 100% chemical fertilizer NPK (CF) and Trichoderma spp. +50% NPK. The pathogenic results increased hormonal variables, with increases of 63.5% in abscisic acid (ABA), 30% in indole acetic acid (IAA), 30.2% in gibberellic acid (GA3) and 10.3% in GA4. In addition, the Trichoderma spp. isolates promoted improvements in the physiological parameters of the seedlings, including an increase in the CO2 assimilation rate (23.09%), stomatal opening (17.06%), transpiration (15.95%) and instantaneous efficiency of carboxylation (77.35%). The inoculation also resulted in increases in the contents of chlorophyll a (125.15%), chlorophyll b (50.85%) and chlorophyll a+b (99.74%) and increase in the contents of nutrients such as N (32%)., P (25.1%), K (13.9%) and B (13.1. In addition, the Trichoderma spp. isolates promoted seedling growth, with increases in plant height (25.41%), diameter of the collet (17.20%) and total biomass (18.93%). The inoculation also improved the quality of the seedlings, increasing the quality index by 15%. These results highlight the potential of using Trichoderma spp. to improve the growth, physiology, nutrition and quality of Anão-verde-do-brasil coconut seedlings, providing a promising approach for improving the production of seedlings of this species.
