RESUMO:

The Amazon is an important biome because of its great biodiversity of plant and animal species, as well as its large hydrography. Among the plant species native to the Brazilian Amazon, the açaizeiro (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) Stands out, whose natural habitat is hydromorphic soil ecosystems that drain twice a day. These soils, in general, have good fertility, due to sedimentary deposition resulting from water movement, poor drainage and high levels of silt and clay. The objective of this study was to evaluate the chemical, physical, microbiological and mineralogical characteristics of hydromorphic soils in areas of native açaizais, beyond the chemical characteristics of the water quality of the river, soil macrofauna and productivity of the areas, aiming to contribute to the maintenance, preservation and proper management of these ecosystems. The work was developed in three areas of native açaizal on the Saracá Island belonging to the municipality of Limoeiro do Ajurú, in the region of Baixo Tocantins and classified in Várzea close to the margin (VM), intermediate Várzea (VI) and central Várzea (VC). Thirty soil samples with deformed structures were collected in the rainy season (n = 10) and 30 in the less rainy period (n = 10) and 60 undisturbed samples (n = 20) at a depth of 0-0.1 m. Undisturbed samples were used to determine the density of the soil (Ds), of particles (Dp), soil water retention characteristics and 10x10x10cm aggregate stability monoliths. The deformed samples were used to analyze the soil particle size distribution, mineralogical, microbiological and chemical soil attributes. The quality of the river water was analyzed by the Standard methods for the examination of water and wastewater, in the laboratory of the Evandro Chagas Institute, with the determination in two periods: November 2019 (less rainy) and February 2020 (rainy) of the following characteristics: pH, electrical conductivity (CEa), cations and anions. The soil macrofauna was carried out using the TSBF method (“Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility”) and the productivity of the areas through the monthly monitoring of fruit production in kilograms (Kg) and by the size of the area in hectares (ha). The variables were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis and Pearson's correlation (5% and 1%). The three floodplain areas (margin, intermediate and central) presented high levels of silt framing the soil in the textural class of silt franc. The retention curves show that the volumetric moisture were relatively high in all evaluated matric potentials, showing a slight reduction with increasing tension. Total porosity and microporosity were high, while soil density in the three areas was low. The aggregate classes of the three floodplains that showed the most water-stable aggregates were <4.76 mm with more than 60% and <2.00 mm greater than 15%. The chemical and physical characteristics showed a significant correlation at 5% and 1% among themselves.
