SUMMARY:

The coconut palm (Cocos nucifera L.) is a perennial fruit palm tree of great global socioeconomic relevance due to the diversity of products and byproducts derived from it. In Brazil, the North region stands out as one of the main producers, with Pará occupying the third position in the production of green dwarf coconut, especially in the Northeast of Pará. The increase in the consumption of coconut water has driven the expansion of irrigated areas in the region, aiming to increase production and mitigate the water deficit in the less rainy season, which can compromise productivity, given the sensitivity of the green dwarf coconut palm to water scarcity. Irrigation management based on evapotranspiration is an excellent tool for water resource management, however, irrigation practices are still incipient, resulting in waste of water and economic resources. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the influence of different water regimes on the production and water productivity in terms of coconut fruits and water, as well as the economic viability of green dwarf coconut production under these regimes. The experiment was conducted at Fazenda Reunidas Sococo, in the municipality of Santa Izabel do Pará (PA), in the years 2023 and 2024, under a randomized block design, in a 4 x 12 factorial scheme, with 6 replications. The first factor corresponded to the application of four water regimes based on fractions of coconut evapotranspiration (Rainy, 50% ETc, 100% ETc and 125% ETc) and the second factor to the 12 months of evaluation of the year. The plants were irrigated daily during the less rainy period by a micro-sprinkler system, with one emitter per plant. Productivity was monitored every 21 days in 6 replicates, composed of 2 plants each, with evaluation of leaf water potential, number of fruits, fruit weight and fruit water volume. Data were subjected to assumption tests (Shapiro-Wilk and Bartlett, p < 0.05), then to ANOVA (p < 0.05) and the Scott-Knott test (p < 0.05). The results showed that the leaf water potential of irrigated plants differed significantly from that of the Rainfed treatment in the pre-morning period, but there were no significant differences during the day in the less rainy season. The number of fruits, weight and water volume of the fruits varied significantly between treatments and months, being positively influenced by the levels of water applied, with better results observed in June. However, water productivities (fruit and water volume) did not present significant differences between treatments. For the economic analysis, considering a 30-year planning horizon of cultivation, costs, revenues and cash flows will be estimated for 1 ha in each treatment. The economic indicators obtained will include Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Benefit/Cost Ratio (B/C) and Leveling Point, aiming to determine the most economically viable water regime.
