Cocoa cultivation has been expanding and the demand for the use of irrigation systems has been gaining prominence in recent years in the Trans-Amazonian and Xingu regions. Efficient management of the irrigation system is essential for plant development, since water deficit is a limiting factor for good cocoa production performance. The crop coefficient (kc) is directly linked to the physiological conditions where the crop grows. The kc is the result of the relationship between crop evapotranspiration, obtained by the Bowen Ratio-Energy Balance. The objective of this study is to quantify the water consumption of cocoa trees, using the energy balance method (Bowen ratio), in Vitória do Xingu-PA. To estimate crop evapotranspiration (ETc), an agrometeorological tower installed in a cocoa plantation with 10 hectares of area was used, with sensors to monitor the agrometeorological conditions of the crop. The reference evapotranspiration was obtained using the Penman-Monteith method, with data collected from the INMET agrometeorological station located 18 km from the experimental unit. The ongoing research showed an average daily evapotranspiration of 2.09 mm day-1 and a crop coefficient (Kc) of 0.43 for the year 2023. The production assessment of the cocoa tree is carried out every two weeks and the following parameters are evaluated: fruit ripeness, shell thickness, number of almonds, fresh and dry almond weight, weight and number of fruits per plant.
