Açaí (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) Is a fruit of the native Amazonian palm and its fruit is considered one of the most important in the Amazon estuary, due to its economic importance, making it widely consumed nationally and internationally. The objective of the study was to determine the thermal need of the açaí tree in the region using the degree-day model, analyzing the phenological behavior of the crop in irrigated area and rainfed area, in order to analyze what effects water limitation can generate on plants. The experiment was carried out in an area of 0.60 ha with the planting of cv BR-Pará in the municipality of Castanhal-PA. An automatic micrometeorological tower was instrumented with sensors to monitor the weather conditions. The plants were irrigated daily during the period of lowest water availability by micro-sprinkling, estimated by reference evapotranspiration (ET0) (FAO-56), with treatments being defined as: rainfed (TS), with no water input by irrigation and 100% of water. ET0 (T-100). The phenological observations were evaluated according to the following stages: pre-flowering, flowering, green and ripe fruit. With the climatic data, the thermal requirement of the selected plants of the T-S and T-100 was calculated, noting that in T-S the culture has a reproductive cycle with 41 more days, compared to T-100. In addition, the beginning of the pre-flowering stage in T-S occurs almost two months before T-100. Another important point observed is that in T-S the açaizeiro has an accumulated thermal need higher, in all stages, than that found in T-100, needing 601.85º d-1 more to end its reproductive cycle. The water limitation of the açaizeiro in Castanhal generates an extension in its reproductive cycle, in addition to generating a greater thermal need.
