RESUMO:

The global production of soybeans reached in the 2017/2018 harvest, the second largest production ever recorded thanks to harvests in the United States and Brazil. For production and productivity to occur efficiently, in addition to favorable soil conditions, the availability not only of macro, but mainly of micronutrients in a balanced way has been an important factor to be considered. Micronutrients are required by plants at very low concentrations for adequate growth and reproduction. However, despite their low concentrations within the tissues and organs of plants, micronutrients have the same importance of macronutrients for their nutrition. Studies have now shown increased interest in micronutrients due to their importance for crop production. Inadequate micronutrient content has played the stress in crops, as deficiency or excess of these, which may go unnoticed. This fact not only has a direct effect on the physiological and metabolic performance of the crop, but also reduces the efficiency of the use of fertilizers containing macronutrients. In addition, micronutrients (Zn and Fe) are particularly involved in the reproductive phase of plant growth and consequently in determining the productivity and quality of the crop harvested. In recent years, strategies and technologies have been developed for the treatment of plants stressed by abiotic factors, among them, the application of vegetable steroids has been discussed as an effective and less harmful method. Of plant steroids, considerable attention has been paid to brassinosteroids (BRs). Therefore, it is important to evaluate the behavior of Zn and Fe in the soybean crop under inadequate soil fertility management. Thus, the objective of the research is to investigate the performance of BRs in soybean plants [Glycine max (L.) Merril] submitted to stress caused by Zn and Fe. As well as, to reveal the physiological and biochemical behavior in soybean plants submitted to deficiency and the excess of Zn and Fe, and to identify the possible benefits provoked by BRs.
