CHARACTERIZATION OF COCOA PRODUCTION SYSTEMS IN THE ASSURINI DO XINGU REGION, STATE OF PARÁ

The work analyzes cocoa production systems in the Assurini do Xingu Region, state of Pará. The first chapter presents the contextualization of the topic, highlighting the research problem and its relevance, in addition to the justifications, hypotheses and objectives. The second chapter, Literature Review, discusses cocoa farming in the Xingu Region, addressing the different cocoa production systems and the historical and socioeconomic aspects of the Assurini do Xingu Region. This bibliographical survey offers a theoretical basis allowing us to understand the broader context in which production systems are inserted. The data were obtained from a sample of 102 cocoa farmers in the Assurini do Xingu Region, located in the municipalities of Altamira and Senador José Porfírio. The results describe the sociodemographic profile of cocoa farmers and characterize the infrastructure of properties, cocoa production systems, marketing channels, social organization and technical assistance. Furthermore, access to rural credit and the socio-environmental indicators of this activity are discussed, providing a broad view of the factors that influence cocoa production in the region.
